We will be having a special Homecoming service on Sunday, October 12th. This is going to be an exciting day as we are celebrating 190 years of God's faithfulness here at Farmville Baptist Church! We are hopeful that all of you will be able to join us, and we want you to help spread the word as we anticipate a great crowd. Our Homecoming Committee has been working hard to plan for this service, so let me share with you some things about this special day:
We will not have Sunday School, and the worship service will begin at 10:00 a.m. We will have some extra music for this service and also a brief presentation, so we are planning for the service to end around 11:30.
We will have lunch together after the service. The church will be providing chicken fingers. We are asking for others to please bring either a side dish or dessert.
New Life Korean Baptist Church is celebrating their 15th anniversary, so they will be joining us for the worship service and for lunch afterward.
Because New Life will not be having a separate worship service on that day, there is no rush to clean up and leave after lunch. We will encourage everyone to stick around and enjoy a time of fellowship. Some may even want to bring a change of clothes and enjoy games of kickball or ultimate frisbee following lunch.
Our guest speaker for the service will be former youth and college minister, Craig Hamm.
Concerning the offering for this day, if you would like to bless a former staff member and his family, please designate your offering as a gift for the Hamm family. Also, any offering that is undesignated for this service will go to the Vision 3:20 Fund (building fund) instead of the general fund.
We want to reach out and invite former Farmville members to join us on this day, but we need your help! If you have either an email address or a mailing address of former members, please give those to Suzanne, and she will send them a special invitation to join us for Homecoming.
I am thankful for all that God has done over the years in this church, and I'm anticipating great things for the future! Please make plans to join us on October 12th, as we celebrate God's faithfulness!
